Artist Information: In my work I deal with relationships of space and color. Using the negative field of the paper and the varied intensities of the graphite, I create the illusion of motion. The subject matter deals with land and space, real and imagined. These images derive from elements of architecture and industry and while they suggest outdoor spaces, these are not nature's landscapes. They suggest Constructivism in their organization of mass, volume and space, creating three-dimensional abstracts. Drawing is art, not just the means to an end such as a preliminary sketch for a painting or sculpture. Drawing stands on it's own merits as art; the final product of the artist's intimate contact with the art of creation; direct statements made by the artist for himself.
